Fine, if I have to be wearing socks now at least I’ll obsess over fall’s new boots. I’ve returned home to chilly temps, turning leaves, and school starting after the holiday weekend. I’m in denial but taking comfort in the prospects of fall fashion.
Happy Friday and thanks for reading! Cheers to a sunny, long weekend…even if it is summer’s final hoorah. ~Jenn
I love/hate this time of year. August is generally guaranteed to be the most consistently sunny month here in the Pacific Northwest; we usually take a long family beach vacation, and we celebrate 5 family birthdays. However, the days become shorter (it is becoming increasingly more difficult to wake-up in the mornings), the shadows a little longer, and back-to-school is around the corner. Don’t get me wrong, I love a cozy sweater, changing leaves, spiced lattes, and back-to-school shopping as much as the next person, but this transition is always bitter sweet for me. I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too – or linger in my sundresses yet still wear my new fall booties!
With this in mind, I’ve selected several transitional pieces that you can be wearing now (like, right now) yet continue to pair them with fall staples as the weather cools (and leaves turn, kids go back to school…sniff, sniff).
Denim Dress: Easy with bare legs and strappy sandals now or layer under a cosy knit with tights and booties in the fall.
Lace-Up Flats: Screaming for a denim mini skirt in summer’s sunshine but just as easy with a cropped trouser as the weather cools.
Wide Brim Fedora: Nothing better to keep the sun off your face than the wide brim, yet also perfect to keep your head warm in chillier temps.
Long Vest: Equally awesome when worn over a tank with your favorite boyfriend jeans or with a turtleneck and cigarette pants.
What are you looking forward to this fall? Fall fashion favorites? As always, please leave a comment. Happy Friday! ~Jenn
I’m not trying to spoil our summer fun by talking denim. While you may not be quite ready to retire your sundress, it’s time to consider jeans that can be paired now with your favorite platform sandals and later with a chic pair of booties come fall. Below you will find 3 denim styles you should try now, yet they all will easily transition as the weather cools. And, several of my picks can still be nabbed at fantastic sale prices during the final weekend of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
At first these may feel high as they have a minimum of a 9″ rise, but they are definitely something you can get used to. I now tie shoes and sit on picnic blankets without a care in the world!
Pair with this Leith blouse…
These can take some getting used to as well but flare jeans are a totally chic alternative to your skinnies. Pair with a heeled, more chunky shoe and either tuck your top or wear something that will show off your shape.
Pair with these Joie booties…
Totally beach appropriate yet also cool when you add a leather moto jacket and booties. And the bleached-out color will highlight your summer tan.
Pair with this Topshop leather jacket…
Denim days are year-round in my book. What are your favorite styles? As always, all comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading! ~Jenn
